Broward County, Florida is located ont he east coast of Florida and has a population that is quickly approaching 2 million. It is the second most populated county in Florida.
In an attempt to receive better governmental services, many cities have annexed from the county and incorporated. They include Parkland, Coconut Creek, Deerfield Beach, Coral Springs, Margate, Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point, Hillsboro Beach, Tamarac, North Lauderdale, Lauderdale-by-the Sea, Sea Ranch Lakes, Oakland Park, Wilton Manors, Lazy Lake, Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill, Sunrise, Plantation, Weston, Davie, Dania Beach, Hollywood, Southwest Ranches, Cooper City, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, West Parkk, Pembroke Park, and Hallandale Beach.
Aside from interstate 95 and 75, Broward county has interstate 595 and the Florida Turnpike running through the county. In an attempt to deal with sprawl in the western portion of the county, the built the sawgrass expressway which ultimately runs near the Sawgrass Mills Mall. That mall is one of the largest outlet malls in the country.
Broward County makes up the 17th Judicial Circuit and employs 88 full time judges to deal with the volume of cases. Because of the volume of cases, the county has several courthouses. The north regional courthouse is located at 1600 West Hilsboro Blvd in Deerfield Beach. The judicial complex is located in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. The complex takes up an entire city block. It is located at 201 SE 6th Street in Ft. Lauderdale 33301. The third courthouse is located at 100 N Pine Road in Plantation, Florida 33324. The final courthouse, the south regional courthouse, is located at 3550 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, Florida 33021.
